Just a Picture

I took this picture of Everett today. We are very lucky because he is a smiley baby.

New Tricks

Everett rolled over for the first time on his own a couple of weeks ago. We are trying to get a video of it, but he does not want to do it on demand.

Another one of his new tricks that he has just started doing is to grab on to his feet. He loves it so much, as soon as we lay him on a blanket, he immediately kicks his feet up in the air a then grabs his feet with his hands. As example of this feat is below.

He is also well on his way to holding his own bottle. Here he is, caught in the act:

Happy Halloween!

Everett had a fantastic first Halloween! He dressed up like a pumpkin for his daycare party (if three children under the age of 18 months can have a party!).

In the evening he dressed up as the cutest elephant ever. We started him off slow as we only went to one house. He did not like the costume as much as Mom and Dad did!

The Bumbo

Everett now likes spending time in his Bumbo. He saw Cousin Lincoln's and really liked it, so he now has one of his own.

Vegetables!

Everett is now eating vegetables! He has only had peas and sweet potatoes. I think that you can probably guess which picture goes with which food. Although he makes some funny faces, he seems to eat them without too much fuss.

Another First!

Here is a brief clip of Everett's first spoon feedin'. It was entertaining, to say the least. Also, he may have actually consumed a little.

Cheers!

The Babbling Baby

Here's another clip of Everett from Saturday, post-giggle, in babble-mode. Here he is bellowing in "normal" conversation with Mommy. Enjoy!

Big News!!

News Alert...

Everett began laughing for the first time on Saturday, September 29. Everett and I were lounging around on Saturday morning when he began giggling. Mary quickly grabbed the camera and we have a clip to share. Enjoy!

16 Weeks!

Today, our little boy underwent his 16-week check-up. Much to our delight, good ol' Dr. Metzl declared him a "healthy baby." Everett also received the green light to immediately begin eating rice cereal with other "real" food to soon follow. Our little ball-of-fire continues to grow on a blistering pace. Here are his latest dimensions including their respective rank when compared to his peers:

Length: 26 5/8 inches - 97%
Weight: 17 lbs 12 ounces - 95%

Simply put, he's a big guy with a big appetite; he recently began eating 7-8 ounces of milk per setting! Mommy and I both are happy to begin feeding him real foods in the hopes that he may begin sleeping longer/better, which means we sleep longer/better...

Cheers!

Guess How Much Everett Weighs...

Well, take a look at this picture and guess how much he weighs. Please note the hint on his bib....

Everett is 12 Weeks Old!

Last Thursday, Everett celebrated his 12 week birthday. He celebrated by playing in his Baby Einstein gym that he just loves! Look at how excited he is!

An Everett Divided!!

Well, last week was the first college football weekend. Everett got to watch Nebraska and Oklahoma State's first games of the year (and his first football games ever). Luckily, he had the appropriate attire for each game. After watching both teams I'm pretty sure that he's decided to be a Husker. GO BIG RED!!

Tummy Time!

Everett has gotten very good at holding his head up during tummy time. Here's a display of his talents from a couple of weeks ago.
Everett seemed to like this hat the other day so I thought you'd all enjoy seeing him in his "cool kids" hat.

Speaking of Daycare

Our dayceare provider, Stacey, took some wonderful pictures of Everett the other day at daycare and emailed them to us. Take a look. They are very good...but, of course, she had such a good subject to work with!

Daycare

Well, it has been four weeks now that Everett has gone to daycare. He seems to like it there. He is also very popular. When we arrive in the morning, there are two little girls (around 18 months) that just love to see Everett. We usually put him in his carrier on the kitchen table and those girls just have to see him. They try to bring their little stools or chairs over to stand on next to the table to get a glimpse of him. The other day I lifted one of them up to see him and as soon as he saw her face he just started laughing and giggling. A girlfriend already?

There is also a little boy there named Ricky that is about 2 years old. He always makes me feel good as he refers to me as "Everett mommy?". Yes, I am a mommy now!

Here's pictures of my first day back at work (for a whole week) and Everett's first day at daycare.

Everett Loves His Mobile!

The mobile on the crib has been a lifesaver for Mary, allowing her to pump and shower while Everett is entertained. He just loves to listen and watch the mobile and he even smiles at it. This brief video shows him smiling while watching the mobile.

Strolling

Everett really likes to take walks. He looks around at the trees and keeps an eye on Mom and Dad. Here's Everett in the stroller...isn't he so cute?

Drunk Baby!

As with most babies, we are feeding Everett around every 3 hours. Here's a cute picture of Daddy feeding Baby E.

And this is Everett after he is done eating. This is commonly referred to as "Drunk Baby"!

Everett is 6 Weeks Old Already!!

Here are some pictures of Everett around his 6 week birthday. He is getting big! I weighed him at home last week and he is close to 12 pounds. We will go to the doctor on Thursday so I will report back his official weight on his 7 week birthday.

Notice that this one was taken after eating...hence the round belly!

He Smiles!

Everett will smile at us now. This is a picture of one of his smiles. I hope to get a better one soon!

He's 4 Weeks Old Already!

On Thursday, Everett was officially 4 weeks old. (And now he is one month old!) We went to the doctor on Tuesday (3 weeks and 5 days old) and he weighed a whopping 9 lbs 14 oz! He gained two ounces per day for the past two weeks. He has also changed quite a bit, as you will see in the photos. He is now sporting the "Costanza" and has gained a couple more chins. (For those of you who do not know what I mean by the "Costanza", I am referring to the George Costanza hairdo from "Seinfeld". You know - no hair on top but hair on the sides! I fret that before it is all said and done, he will probably lose more hair.

Here's a picture of him when he was one week old.

Here's two pictures from his 4 week birthday.

And the final picture displays his new hairdo nicely...

More Pictures of Everett!

Here are more of my favorite pictures of Everett!

Pictures of Baby Everett

I was just looking through the pictures that we've taken and I thought many of them were worthy of posting on the blog. So, here you go. They should be in chronological order, starting the hospital up to last week. Enjoy!

Also, a big thanks to everyone that has helped us out the past three weeks. It was very much appreciated!

Cutest Thing Ever!

This video snippet contains two of the cutest things possibly known to man; a newborn yawn and sneeze. I admit, I may be a bit biased but I'm not sure I've seen something so routine yet so darn cute!

Enjoy!

Happy Independence Day!

Our very festive little boy, Everett, would like to:
  • Show off his new July 4th outfit (Thanks Mommy!);
  • Express his gratitude to the brave men of the Continental Congress who voted on July 2, 1776 to finally break the shackles of the oppressive British red-coats; and
  • Wish everyone a very safe and happy Independence Day celebration!

Cheers!

Sleep Deprivation: Day 12

Momma and I are learning to live with little to no sleep. Meanwhile, Everett naps at will. Some things are so unfair...

The Arrival!

Alas, Baby Davis has arrived! On Thursday, June 14, Everett Ehme made his first appearance into our world. Everett Ehme's introduction was a low key, happy affair in which he arrived one day early but not a moment too soon. Momma and baby are healthy and we're all slowly adjusting to our new way of life.

What Will Baby Davis Look Like?

Well, I for one cannot wait to see what Baby Davis will look like. I'm going to copy Linda and Scott's blog and ask you all to put in your two-cents worth, also. Just for kicks, I've included two baby pictures: one of me and one of Randy. I'd say that we are pretty close in age here. I also think we look a bit alike. I'm pretty sure that he won't have much hair (I mean, look at his parents' pictures!) I am thinking that he will have dark hair like his father and maybe even blue eyes? I'll see if I can find younger baby pictures of both of us and post those for you to see and maybe help you envision what he will look like a few days after delivery.

28 Weeks

I sit here, Friday evening, relishing that I’ve logged another work week yet feeling somewhat dismayed that the 28th week of our pregnancy has slipped by in what seemed like a typical lunch period. 28 weeks. Actually, it’s been just over 28 weeks as our “fetal weeks” begin on Wednesdays. We’re working on 29 now. Anyway, the 28th week of our pregnancy has passed in short order.

As you know, or don’t know, 28 “pregnant weeks” means our little one is 26 weeks developed. Already, the little one has a bit of a personality. Often he kicks and, according to momma, he turns about frequently and refuses to sit still while she’s working. Interestingly enough, his activity is far from random and he reportedly “likes” certain foods. Peanut butter and brownies, I hope.

It’s difficult to grasp that in my wife grows a human, a small human composed of bits and pieces derived from each of us. The anticipation of which bits and whose pieces is nearly unbearable. His mother’s grace and intelligence…my interest in sports…will he share my interest in dirt? Of course, all boys like dirt!

As my wife silently sleeps on the couch accompanied by “my” growing belly, I’m engrossed with a familiar, fond feeling from my early childhood. I’m a child on December 23rd counting the hours until Christmas morning…

28 Weeks - Less Than 3 Months to Go

I thought you all might want to see how large my belly has gotten to this point. We have a little less than 3 months until D-day (June 15th)! I am feeling good, although it is hard to imagine my belly getting any larger than it is today! Junior is quite active now. At my desk at work today, I spent time watching my belly move with his kicks or punches. Sometimes I think I can feel him do a complete 180 turnaround.
On the preparation front, we picked up the crib last weekend, but have not put it together yet. Randy has to paint the baby's room, first! Other than that, we have received some blankets and clothing from soon-to-be grandparents and aunts/uncles. We probably need to get just a couple of other items before we are really ready (diapers, maybe?).
We will be checking in more often now to keep everyone updated, especially now that I (Mary) know how to post on this blog site!

Sonogram says it's a...

The sonogram, conducted today, indicates our "bun in the oven" is a..........BOY! Mary and I are quite ecstatic and look forward to the pitter-patter of little boy feet running through our home. Our "bun" is yet to be fully cooked and we have a lot of work to do, which explains our sporadic blogging.

Mary is especially happy now that she can begin the baby room decoration process and I am "looking forward" to the increased work load associated with her decorating. As she puts it, she "manages" our home projects and I "execute" her plans.

The picture above illustrates our developing young one and the interior of his comfy confines. As our little guy has grown so has the circumference of momma's belly. Stay tuned for a photograph illustrating the exterior of our baby abode.

Happy New Year!

During New Year's weekend, Mary and I celebrated Hauner Christmas with Mary's side of the family. Mary's parents traveled all the way from Lincoln, Nebraska to KC to spend a little time with us and the Kings (www.akingslife.blogspot.com). Our celebration was highlighted by a frantic gift-opening session and a massive turkey dinner, which was over-whelming in both quality and quantity. The youngest King, Prince Lincoln, was the center of attention as he was celebrating his first Christmas!

Sibling Rivalry

As indicated before, there is no love lost between Sophie and Chloe. Filmed here is the first physical conflict of 2007. This is also my inaugural video posting.
